Solar Water Heating - Maintenance

Glycol pH

Glycol can turn acidic over time. Your solar water heating system works on a glycol heat exchange system and acidic glycol can reduce performance and possibly damage your system. Manufacturers recommend testing your glycol pH every 3-5 years, depending on use of the system. A system that is used often and had very little down time will take longer to turn acidic. Systems that sit for long periods and do not circulate can turn acidic faster.
